Sorry to hear of Mr. Shaver's untimely death. His energy and enthusiasm for teaching was always evident. Mr. Shaver expected his students to do their best and helped them gain confidence in their speaking abilities. Always smiling and telling stories from the service, Mr. Shaver will be remembered for his boundless energy.
Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I remember when I had signed up for Mr. Shaver's speech class. Shortly before the classes started, I got cold feet and tried to transfer out. He set aside personal time to speak with me and gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed to stay in the class. Many years later, after endless presentations I have had to (and still) give in my career, I will always remember his personal attention to help one shy student.

I still to this day, tell family and friends that my speech teacher (Mr. Shaver) was the best I had in high school. I tell them that if it was not for him, I would never have gained the confidence and ability to speak in front of any size audience. He was not only my teacher in Speech 1 and 2, but a friend as well. I'll always remember his smile and that one and only look he gave as he just shook his head :)
My sincere condolences to his family, and I will continue to sing his praises each and every chance I get.

Mr. Shaver was an encouragement to me during my highschool years.  He helped me channel unhidden talent, and because of him, I am still working in theater, today!  He was a lovely, thoughtful man who put a lot of time into his students and truly cared.
