Samuel 'Sam' edward Waller

SOMERS – Samuel ‘Sam’ Edward Waller, 53, was born into eternal life on December 2, 2010, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee in the presence of his loving wife, family and friends.  He was born in Danville, Illinois, on November 10, 1957, the son of Charles and Alice (nee: Black) Waller.  On April 15, 1995, Sam was united in marriage to Paula Heide at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kenosha.

He was a 1975 graduate of Bradford High School and received his degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.  Sam was an electrician, working for many years in the Kenosha area and most recently had been employed at Vesta, Inc. in Franklin, Wis.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and NAVHDA, the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Assoc. Sam loved being outdoors; shooting, hunting, rock climbing, skiing, ice-skating and sailing on his yacht, “Tempo.”  He enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, photography, bee keeping, knitting, working crossword puzzles and reading.  Sam also enjoyed fencing and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Chicago White Sox fan. He loved the time spent with his extended family, especially with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Kathryn Heide. Sam’s adventurous spirit and love of life never kept him from finding time to help someone in need.
Sam is survived by his wife of 15 years, Paula; mother, Alice Waller of Kenosha; brothers and sisters, Charles ‘Richard’ (Debra) Waller of Pleasant Prairie, Rachel (Rory Cunningham) Waller of Kenosha, Patricia (Thomas) Lee of Pleasant Prairie, Michael Underhill of Paddock Lake, Rebecca (Jeff) Stevens of Kenosha, Robert (Lori) Underhill of Racine, Sarah (Rocco) Giorno of Kenosha and Laura (Bill) Whitney of Wheaton, Ill.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Kathryn Heide of Somers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Tim) Thompson, Krista (Lloyd) Reck, all of Somers, and Charles (Ann) Heide of Racine.  He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Waller, on May 12, 2002, grandparents, Samuel (Effie) Black, Charles (Ada) Waller, Leslie Dreiske and by his beloved canine companion, Volta.
Funeral services will be held at Bethany Somers Lutheran Church, 1520 Green Bay Rd., Somers, on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Pastor David Pagel and Pastor Kevin Hundley officiating.  Sam will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Somers, following services.  There will be a visitation at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Tuesday before services from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church or to NAVHDA would be greatly appreciated.

Sam’s family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this most difficult time.

Deepest condolences to the entire Waller family on the loss of Sam.

Sam was always friendly and kind. He will be remembered as being very funny and kind hearted. Sam's sense of humor made the most boring class more fun.

It sounds like he had a happy and full life. Sorry that he missed the reunion. He will be missed by all who knew him.
