How did you and your spouse/partner meet?

I came home for a reunion and met my sweetheart. This amazing meeting brought me back home, after residing outside of my country for 27 years.

Grandchildren?
(they say that you're supposed to have them first!)

No grandchildren at this time. The girls know they had better hurry up.

Any "four-legged" children? (i.e. fur-babies/pets)?

Milla is our Dog. Chi Chi is our cat.

Occupation or Profession? Retired? Rehired?

The Marine Corps had a very positive impact, turning me around, straightening me out. My travels took me through Europe, I served on Embassy missions abroad, protecting our people and assets. I later became a police officer, retiring. I then returned to the United States and worked in management, distribution and safety. Now I am retired, fishing, camping, and active in community service ventures in veteran communities.

What was/ or is your favorite "job" or occupation/vocation?

Working for the Department of State, American Embassy Prague, and then in Athens. Then playing the streets as a police officer serving a fine community.

Any Hobbies? Favorite pastimes?

Fishing is my favorite activity. I love to camp, and I have a permanent site at Fort Atkinson, WI. I enjoy hearing from old friends. I’ve never attended a Bradford event, primarily because I don’t think anyone would remember me.

What is left on your "Bucket List" of things you want to do in Life?

I had already traveled the world, China, Japan, Europe, North Africa, and all over the US and Canada. Not much more in that area.
At this stage, I need to catch the record fish.

What's your favorite way to enjoy the passing of Time?

Reading, socializing with family, enjoying my wife's amazing company, and sitting in front of a crackling camp fire. And for some reason I have taken a liking to good old moonshine. Sipping it once in a while is relaxing. Haha

What have you been doing the past 45 years?

Traveling, working hard, training police officers, military personnel, and security professionals.
Served in the Marines
Worked at Dartmouth and Halifax Regional Police departments in Nova Scotia. Worked as an operations manager and safety manager for trucking companies before retiring for good. Enjoying life like no other. I am blessed for growing older, as I see on this site that many of our friends did not have that privilege.

Comments(about anything and/or everything...: )

We only get one of these things called life. My thoughts are to help others, serve your community, be there for your family, and when it is your time to pass the torch, sing your life song at the top of your lungs

Special School Memories(As best as you can remember...open to your interpretation!: )

I was not the best student, and I apologize for that. I did do well, Afterall. I went to St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I obtained my degree in Political Science, International Relations.
My memories of my many friends at Bradford are priceless. Kenosha has such wonderful people. Allan Orton, Greg Smith, George Vujovic, Carl Rosencutter, Victor Lux, and my favorite young lady friend was Paulett Ruffalo. She was so pretty, very nice person.

Any Do-over moments from school? Good or not so good?

I wish I had taken my formative years more seriously and approached it all back then differently. However, can't cry over the past. But enjoy the memories and appreciate those who had a positive impact. Rocco Lamacchia, for example, had set an example when we were young, and at this age, I still appreciate it. Our teachers were the finest of that generation.

Any favorite teachers? If so, for what reason?

Mr. Bunkowski our physical ed teacher was pretty incredible. The one teacher I had in social studies who taught us history. I wish I could meet him now and tell him of the places I had been, to inform him that I had actually paid attention to him in class. Wow.

What has been the most surprising part of Life so far?

Being lucky enough to walk the Great Wall of China, learned to speak Czech, enjoy Turkish coffee with Belgian Chocolate melting in it, crossing the Charles Bridge in Prague every day, standing on the Parthenon, meeting Lady Bird Johnson, Mee Mee Eisenhower, President Jimmy Carter, Secretary of State Schultz, protecting our ambassador from harms way, and raising our flag on the Glorietta in Prague. Oh, there is so much I had taken for granted. If I had known life was going to take me to so many places, I would have been far more attentive to my early education.

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Withrow, United States Marine Corps, who taught me I could do anything I put my mind to and proved it, promoting me several times meritoriously

What did you want to be when you were "growing up"?

A US Marine. I accomplished that mission and served well.

What do you presently want to be when you "grow up"?

A good father, an awesome fisherman, a loving husband, and simply a good person to those around me.

What would you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

Serving my country and saving lives. In my retirement, I am now visiting veterans in nursing homes to let them know we had not forgotten them. I am currently serving the veteran community as Commandant of the 2nd District of the Marine Corps League in Northern Illinois. I have made friends with Generals, Sergeant Majors, awesome diplomats, and I continue to serve my community at large in the best way I know. Living the American dream

Finish this sentence...The best decision I ever made was...

Marrying Laura. Also, joining the Marine Corps. That changed me completely and turned me into someone responsible to himself and to others.

Read any good books lately? Any recommendations on what to read or what not to read?

The History of Cuba. The History of the Indian Wars. Helmet for My Pillow. The Old Breed. Kissinger. Aristotle. In Search of History. There are so many.

Do you have a favorite song?
If so, please tell us what it is!

Daddy Frank by Merle Haggard. Beyond the Sunset by Hank Williams. Amanda by Don Williams. so many.....

Do you have a facebook page or instagram site? If so, let others know...

Yes I do.

Are you having Fun, yet? If not, when do you expect the Fun to begin? If unsure, take a wild guess!

I don't know if I had enough fun yet, so I think I will keep trying. My plans are to go to Texas, pick up my nieces Class C camper, and bring it back to her, but taking my sweet time returning with it. I have not caught a gold trout in the Rockies yet. I am coming soon.

Your Motto/ Words of Wisdom to live by would be....

"The Nature or a State is to be a Plurality." Aristotle... Appreciate our diversity, respect our differences, appreciate our religions, and let us change the manner in which we observe our politics. Let us work on unity rather than divisiveness.

What is one thing that most others probably do not know about you.....?

I carry with me a deep apology for my being not the greatest friend to those in my past, my fellow students, etc. I was not the finest neighbor, student, and associate. If my colleagues from then were to see me now, I think they would be rather surprised. Indeed, I am not the same person, thanks to a few fantastic mentors and opportunities. I made the right decisions.

Is there anyone in particular that you are trying to find? Maybe someone knows where they are or how to contact them!?!

Allan Orton and Greg Smith. I would love to know what had happened to my good friends over the years. Also, Mark Webb. He and I grew up together. We stood side by side when they announced the death of President Kennedy, and we went through school together. I have lost him over the years. It would be nice to see him again.

What would you like your Legacy to be?

Service to my nation, my community, and a positive impact on my children to carry on that service throughout their lives.

What would you describe as "The Defining Moment" of your Life? Perhaps there has been more than one, please share....

Joining the United States Marines slapped me into a reality. I got serious. At a very young age, I had experienced more life than most people have in a lifetime. It currently defines me and motivates me to continue forward.

What would you like to see at our "Next Reunion"?

I am afraid to attend one. Let me know when the next reunion might be and I will decide to go or not.

Where is your favorite place to "escape"?

Along a river or stream, listening to the water trickle along. Sitting in front of a fire with trees all around me, along with the smell of fresh country air. My other place is in a museum somewhere.

It's been said that Art imitates Life. Perhaps it is the other way around, but who knows? What television show or movie does your life most resemble?

One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest. LOL

If your Life were a movie or television show, what is the best comparison to it's "content"?

The African Queen, start Aubrey Heparin and Humphrey Bogart

Greetings Rocco. I don't anticipate your knowing me after all of these years, as it has been at least the early 70's since we had conversed last. It is good to see that you are still alive and quite well. Just thought I would say hello to an old acquaintance. Rick Prescott
